wearing FURISODE

do u know the traditional Japanese close kimono?
kimono have been worn since about A.C. 700.
it's from china and mixed with Japanese culture.

around a.c.800, noble women worn Jyuni-Hitoe.

Jyuni means 12, Hitoe means all one.
so one person wears 12 species of Kimono,
and she likes to drag along the floor.
also, the length of Kimono express the high status.

however, this kimono is very heavy, it’s about 10kg or 22.05pounds'
so it isn't good to move very far.
it has changed at the SAMURAI period.
at that time, japan was in internal conflict,
so they often took part in the war.
And they always moved too many places.

thats why it's kimono have become slim, so its easier to move.
at the end of EDO era which spend for 200 years, kimono have been complete.
they put their hair up.

but after the WW2, not many people wear kimono any more.
because European clothes are easier to wear than the kimono.

but these days, women have a chance to wear kimono at a coming-of -age ceremony.
they wear FURISODE which is one of the kimono and it can wourn by under 25 years old.
FURISODE's length of the sleeve is longer than the general kimono.
FURISODE is also called HARE-GI.
HARE means happy sunny day, and GI means clothes,
so HARE-GI only can be worn during the happy anniversary.

girls have to reserved the FURISODE for a year,
or buy it and prepare for the ceremony.
if u borrow it, the average costs about is 300 thousand yen,
equal to $3700 (1$= almost ¥80)
and if u buy it, it costs 1 million yen, about $12500.
Its very expensive.

I got this kimono from my mama's friend, and it only cost me 200 thousand yen.
I'm a good daughter :)
this design is traditional style.
but now, European flower printed are popular now.
